The Hero's Journey

The Hero’s Journey refers to Joseph Campbell’s concept of the monomyth. This theory is based on the observation that a typical pattern exists beneath the narrative elements of most great myths, regardless of their origin or time of creation. As this story spread through space and evolved through time, it was broken down into various local forms, depending on the social structures and environmental pressures of the culture that interpreted it. The basic structure, however, has remained relatively unchanged.

The artwork The Hero’s Journey tells an old story about a new society that is shaped by new media. It looks like a storyboard where we follow the surrealistic life of the modern hero and end up with the idea that most of us become that kind of hero whose journey is just watching on-screen somebody else getting through real troubles.
