Timelapse video, sculpture made of stones and wax, 2022

I collected these stones from the beach near our home in Vladivostok. During my walks, fueled by anger and sadness over political news, I frequently pondered the significance of my homeland. Am I rooted in the global or the local? How much of me is civilized, and how much retains a primitive essence?

These reflections converged into a piece that grapples with these questions. It also portrays the inherent fragility of our human nature and, simultaneously, the delicate layer of culture that can be easily consumed by the flames.
